A superb camera for the price (and for a bit dearer a price too)

I paid almost double the price for this camera and still feel like I got a bargain. It is a very well made camera with all the atributes of one a lot dearer, anti camera shake, large screen, different modes etc. The internal memory is a bit small, but no smaller than most other cameras. Mine is in black too, and it makes it look a lot dearer than it is. Good stuff.

Great little camera

Since I bought this camera I have nothing but praise for this honest little work horse. It seems to last forever on a charge and takes brilliant photos. My friends, family and work colleagues are always amazed by the quality of the photographs. I use it in conjunction with a Nikon D40X. Yet I am still amazed at the ability of this cheap little camera to capture those informal candid moments. Plus its ability to use cheap SD cards is a bonus! For snaps and fun pictures I think this camera is great. I carry mine everywhere as its small size and weight make it ideal for a jacket or shirt pocket.

Good for some photos

My last camera, the C643, was dropped in the sea, so my Dad purchased me this one as a replacement. To be honest, I prefer the old one!
Although this one is a higher MP camera, to be honest, the quality isn't great, and the majority of the photos come out wobbly. Fair enough it does have a wobbly setting, but there's so many different settings, it makes it difficult to set it to the right one every time, and if you want to get a snap quickly, forget about it. It also doesn't feel study in my hands, like the last one did.
I'd only recommend this to people who take a lot of photos outdoors. Indoors, its a waste of money. Outside the photos are good quality.

Good but I was looking for more...

I've been a bit of a fan of Kodak for the last three years so naturally chose to upgrade to another one but...
Whilst it took excellent, detailed pictures (with the usual brilliant colour reproduction) and had an impressive number of scene modes, there wasn't that 'wow' factor for me.
Immediately after taking pictures the camera alerts you as to whether the picture is likely to be clear or blurry (by a red, amber or green hand on screen). Most of my pictures had an amber or red hand - I had to hold it really still to get green. I just became annoyed after a while.
The flash didn't reach very far either...

The sound quality on the video was rubbish! It was muffled and you could clearly hear the sound of the lens focusing throughout the movie. I know compact cameras aren't designed primarily for video but...

There are better cameras out there...I ended up sending mine back unimpressed. I now own a Canon Powershot A720 which also has 8 megapixels, but offers so much more and a superb picture quality!

disapointing

I had this camera from new to go on holiday with. All the transfers on the back rubbed off and a lot of the pictures looked ok on the back screen but were blurred when we took them off the memory. Dials didn't help much. And with a time delay, something that most cameras have sorted now the whole thing was rather rubbish. Took it back!!!

My first real digital camera...

... and it messes up in a few days. The light blinks red a bit, then turns off completely. To really rub in the salt the detail really isn't that great , there's no optical zoom, and there's even, to my astonishment, no SOUND while recording video, making the video option utterly pointless. Very disappointing. Had this been working it would have gotten three stars, it only receives two because it can take photos like it says, just not well.

LOOKS LIKE IT CAME OUT OF A CRACKER - AND BEHAVES LIKE IT TOO

I bought this camera this week and I am sorely disappointed with it. Having previously owned Pentax and Panasonic digital cameras which I paid around £80 for, I was gutted when this one arrived. It has a cheap, tacky look to it. I took some pictures outside with it and was not impressed with the quality. Then I tried to take some pictures inside, and guess what??! The flash doesn't work, no matter what setting it is on. Needless to say, the camera is now winging its way back to Amazon and I have demanded a refund. My advice is steer clear, for an extra 20 or 30 quid you can buy a really decent camera, and this one is anything but.

Would be great except ...............

Bought one of these, and it was very easy to use with fantastic photo quality. However, it kept switching itself off after a few pictures, and so I returned it, and got a replacement. This also had the same problem, of turning off all the time, no matter if it had fully charged batteries or not. I've returned it and will not buy anoter

Very disappointing - totally useless indoors or in low light

Having read the first review of this camera posted on Amazon I decided that on balance it sounded like a very good buy and suitable for my needs and so bought it in December for the price as it was then of £210. Unfortunately I have been extremely disappointed with the camera's performance - it doesn't seem able to take a clear unpixellated ungrainy shot except for in really bright sunlit conditions. As for photographs in poor light or indoors - forget about it. I used it on holiday in Barbados but ended up having to photoshop almost every picture taken. The zoom is indeed impressive but as expressed by the first reviewer,"the practicality of such an extensive focal range - especially as it requires very bright conditions, not to mention a steady hand" renders it almost totally redundant. Additionally the various scene modes don't seem to make any difference to the poor quality of photo achieved. I spent an hour taking photos of the same view and was unable to take a decent shot in any of the scene modes including the manual mode. I am not the sort of person who usually posts complaints but I am so let down by this camera in every respect (except for the large LCD) that I am sending it back to Kodak to check that it isn't faulty and failing that will be evoking my statutory right that it is not 'fit for purpose'! Previously I had had a Sony Cybershot DSC W1 (purchased in Sept 03) which was a brilliant little camera - cheaper, easier to use, smaller and reliable.

Great 'out-of-the-box' camera

Just bought the P850 earlier this week and already I'm enjoying its many fine features, particularly its 12X optical zoom. I did a lot of research on sub-£250 cameras and this one rated highly. I also spoke to a professional photographer who gave his Fuji FinePix7000 to his son in exchange for this one and hasn't regretted it. The camera is easy to come to terms with right out-of-the-box and you'll be taking great photos right off the bat. Of course, you'll want to buy a 512MB SD memory card (you'll get about 260 pics on that) or a 1GB card. So far, the camera works beautifully and I'm very pleased with my purchase and with Amazon which not only offered the lowest price but got it to me within 48 hrs by Special Delivery as promised. Thanks Amazon and Kodak.

This camera is so easy to use and really does give outstanding results. its very light weight and the buttons are so easy to access,with my last camera i did not have what i call the old style view finder i had only the lcd display which i found to be rather annoying when it was sunny as i could not see the display. with this camera you get the choice of which one you would like to use all by pressing one simple button.this camera also has less pixels than my other on but of course the 12x zoom makes up for this and more.sorry to amazon for saying this but this camera on the day i wrote this is almost £50 yes fifty pounds cheaper on kodaks own web site.just to sum up ,great camera at a great price(at kodak)easy to use.

Excellent camera. Light to carry. Excellent zoom. Excellent photos. Everything you'd expect from Kodak. Point and click. I'm sure it does a lot more than that too, but why bother when the photos are that good anyway.

Kodak V803 Review

Very impressed with this camera, have been using it at work mainly. Easy to use and on the whole good functionality. Close up use in macro mode is reasonable and image lighting is useful when used in awkward places and in dark (lets you know where you're pointing the camera). Was that impressed brought one for myself to use, very good price as these were recently going for about £250 in Argos. Very nice in black. Recommend 2GB Transcend SD Memory card, this will give you plenty of room for photo's and video. One touch photo transfer software is also good.

awesome quality

having used a lot of different digital cameras and being a photo nut...i was looking very hard for a more professional camera to use and i have to say after a lot of looking,reading positive and negative reviews,i can honestly say that this camera ticks all the boxes for me,superb quality all round and i cant understand the second review on the page about portrait and indoor pictures,the quality is superb,his must have been faulty.adapter rings can be bought for a few pound to convert the camera lens into a 55mm so it can take extra lenses,polarisers etc..you can even add a step up adapter on to that one to convert it into a bigger mm e.g. 58mm. so versatile,can honestly recommend.

brought for my 12 year old lads birthday very plastic eats batteries the viewing screen is not very clear but if i put the SD card in my Nikon the picture very clear ? but he enjoys it , i just feel i short changed him and could have brought better .

Flippin' Brilliant!!!!

This is the best digital I've ever had or even seen! It's got settings for all sorts (bright beach scenes, bright snow scenes, fireworks), the zooms good, the pics are easy to download,you can take videos with sound, and its just the right size to fit in your pocket too.
The only two downsides (and these are pretty insignifigant, but I think I should include them) when you play back the videos on the camera there is no sound, and it doesn't come with a case. But you don't really need to listen to the videos right there and then and I easily found a case the right size for it.
Either way, it has joined my wallet, my iPod, my penknife and my mobile, in the things I have with me at all times.
I would recommend this to anyone!
